Nach dem Erfolg des letzten Jahres geht die Tagung damit in die zweite Runde. Die Tagung wird von engagierten Studierenden gemeinsam mit dem Verein Emerging Linguists organisiert und bietet Studierenden, Absolvent:innen und Forscher:innen aus den unterschiedlichsten Disziplinen die Möglichkeit, ihre Arbeiten in einem angenehmen Setting zu präsentieren, sich mit anderen zu vernetzen und Tagungserfahrungen zu sammeln. Ob in den Sozial-, Naturwissenschaften oder Philosophie – Sprache spielt in vielen Forschungsfeldern eine wichtige Rolle. Wir laden euch herzlich ein, eure Perspektiven, Methoden und Erkenntnisse aus eurer Disziplin mit linguistischen Fragestellungen zu verknüpfen und an einem offenen, wissenschaftlichen Austausch teilzunehmen. Die Schaffung sozialer Realität durch Sprache, die Entwicklung von Sprachmodellen in der KI-Forschung oder die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit Sprache und Ideologien – wir sind gespannt, eure Ideen zu diesen und vielen anderen spannenden Themen zu hören! [Reminder] CFA - VDP Writing Retreat at Stift Zwettl (July 7–12, 2025)

Call for Applications: VDP Writing Retreat at Stift Zwettl (July 7–12, 2025) The VDP Writing Retreat will take place for the first time from Monday 7 July to Saturday 12 July 2025 in the serene Stift Zwettl (Lower Austria). The retreat will provide a setting for doctoral candidates in philosophy to dedicate themselves to their dissertation in a peaceful, distraction-free environment. It offers an opportunity to make progress on their work in a structured and supportive peer environment. During the retreat, participants will follow a program carefully designed to support the writing process. The program includes 4-5 writing sessions per day (1 to 1.5 hours each), providing structured blocks of uninterrupted time for focused work, as well as writing exercises to stimulate creativity and overcome potential writing blocks. Additionally, there will be writing circles where participants can share their progress, give and receive feedback and engage in peer support. Overview: * Dates: Monday, July 7 – Saturday, July 12, 2025 * Location: Stift Zwettl, Lower Austria * Expenses covered by the VDP: * Accommodation (mostly shared rooms for two people) * Full board (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner) - drinks are not provided * Travel costs Eligibility Criteria: * You are a member of the Vienna Doctoral School of Philosophy. * You have passed the FÖP, signed your Dissertation Agreement and have submitted your Annual Reports (on time or until the Writing Retreat). PhDs für Fokusgruppen zum univie Website Launch - PhDs for focus groups for the univie website launch

Liebe Alle, wie ihr alle wisst, steht die Uni Wien 2025 vor einem großen Website-Relaunch. Um sich die Perspektive von Studierenden reinzuholen, werden Fokusgruppen mit BA und MA Studierende und auch Fokusgruppen mit PhDs organisiert (DLE Kommunikation in Kooperation mit unserer und anderer DLEs). Ziel ist es mittels dem Input aus den Fokusgruppen spezifisch Websites rund um alle Fragestellungen vor, während und nach dem Zulassungsprozess bestmöglich neu zu gestalten. Wir sind dabei Personen für diese Fokusgruppen zu rekrutieren; leider hatten wir auf eine Massmailer Aussendung (an ca. 500 zugelassenen PhDs im ersten Semester) bis dato nur eine Anmeldung!!! Wir brauchen aber ca. insgesamt 30 Personen (idealerweise im ersten Semester mit einer Mischung aus Finanzierten und Internationals). Ich wäre euch sehr dankbar, wenn ihr uns unterstützen könntet, PhDs für die Fokusgruppen zu rekrutieren. Aus unserer Erfahrung sagen Leute zu, wenn sie persönlich angesprochen werden (und nicht mittels einer Aussendung). Writing Weeks in February Are you planning on writing your dissertation/ Master's Thesis/ Bachelor's Thesis/ Seminar paper in February? Come join us! The Wiener Forum für Analytische Philosophie and the Vienna Doctoral School of Philosophy (VDP) are co-organising two writing weeks from Monday - Friday 17.02.-21.07.2024 and 24.02.-28.07.2024 in room 3A, NIG, Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Vienna. Schedule: 8:50-9:00 Welcome 9:00-9:50 1st writing period (50 min) 9:50-10:00 Break 10:00-11:30 2nd writing period (90 min) 11:30-12:00 Break 12:00-12:50 3rd writing period (50 min) 12:50-14:00 LUNCH BREAK 14:00-14:50 4th writing period (50 min) 14:50-15:00 Break 15:00-15:50 5th writing period (50 min) 15:50-16:00 Break 16:00-16:50 6th writing period (50 min) Information: * If you want to sleep in and join for the later sessions, or join only for the early sessions – no problem!
